Thermal effects of percutaneous application of plasma/radiofrequency energy on porcine dermis and fibroseptal network

Paul G. Ruff

Summary: This study compared the thermal effects of plasma/RF system and monopolar RF system in the subdermis and fibroseptal network in a porcine model. The results showed no significant differences in the depth of thermal effect between the two systems, indicating that plasma/RF systems can be safely used for percutaneous energy application in the subcutaneous space.
