Combustion, performance, vibration and noise characteristics of cottonseed methyl ester-diesel blends fuelled engine

Suat Saridemir et al.

Summary: An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the impacts of adding cottonseed methyl ester into neat diesel fuel on the combustion, performance, vibration and noise characteristics of a single-cylinder, direct injection diesel engine. The results showed that B-20 type fuel had the lowest average vibration value, the high oxygen content of cottonseed methyl ester improved the quality of combustion, but its high viscosity increased ignition delay and led to higher fuel consumption.

Comparative assessment of performance, emissions and combustion characteristics of tire pyrolysis oil-diesel and biodiesel-diesel blends in a common-rail direct injection engine

Y. H. Teoh et al.

Summary: This study compares the combustion, performance, and emission characteristics of tire pyrolysis oil, biodiesel, and diesel blended fuel in a multi-cylinder high-pressure common-rail diesel engine. The results show that the P10 fuel outperforms B10 and diesel fuel in terms of torque, brake power, brake thermal efficiency, and emissions reduction. Therefore, P10 is a suitable alternative fuel for multi-cylinder diesel engines without any modifications.

Energy, exergy, thermoeconomic and sustainability assessment of tire pyrolysis oil in common rail direct injection diesel engine

Haseeb Yaqoob et al.

Summary: Waste to fuel conversion is important due to fuel demand, waste disposal issues, and environmental and economic impact. This study examines the energy, exergy, thermoeconomic, and sustainability aspects of tire pyrolysis oil (TPO)-diesel blends. The results show that DP10 (Diesel 90%-TPO 10%) performs the best in terms of energy and exergy efficiency, as well as sustainability.

Ethanol biofuel production and characteristics optimization from wheat straw hydrolysate: Performance and emission study of DI- diesel engine fueled with diesel/biodiesel/ethanol blends

Mostafa M. El-Sheekh et al.

Summary: In this study, bioethanol production was increased by optimizing the conditions for commercial Saccharomyces cerevisiae on hydrolysate obtained from the enzymatic saccharification of Aspergillus niger. Large-scale production of bioethanol was achieved, and the produced bioethanol was characterized using GC analysis and H-1 NMR. The testing of new fuel blends showed that bioethanol addition improved engine performance but led to increased emissions in certain ratios.

Experimental study on combustion, performance, and emission behaviours of diesel/WCO biodiesel/Cyclohexane blends in DI-CI engine

Medhat Elkelawy et al.

Summary: The addition of Cyclohexane as an additive can significantly improve the combustion efficiency and emissions of waste cooking oil biodiesel, leading to enhanced engine performance. Increasing the dosage of Cyclohexane can reduce CO, HC, and smoke density, while also lowering NOx emissions.

Potential of tire pyrolysis oil as an alternate fuel for diesel engines: A review

Haseeb Yaqoob et al.

Summary: This review paper examines the application of tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) in diesel engines and its impacts on combustion, performance, and emission characteristics. The study finds that TPO can improve cylinder peak pressure, combustion efficiency, and reduce fuel consumption, but there is uncertainty in nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbon emissions.
