Rapid identification of rice geographical origin and adulteration by excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy combined with chemometrics based on fluorescence probe

Leqian Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of a weakly selective fluorescence probe combined with chemometrics for rice origin traceability and adulteration identification. The results showed that the 3D fluorescence data obtained from the reaction of the weakly selective probe with rice extracts could be used for identifying the origin and adulteration of rice.

Excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy coupled with chemometric methods for characterization and authentication of Anhua brick tea

Yucheng Yuan et al.

Summary: The present study characterized and authenticated Anhua brick tea using excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy and chemometric methods. Four primary fluorophores were identified for the first time, and various classifiers were used to process different types and brands of brick tea. Results showed that the combination of full fluorescent data and NPLS-DA achieved the best classification results.

Quality control, classification, and authentication of Iranian rice varieties using FT-IR spectroscopy and sparse chemometric methods

Niloofar Rahmani et al.

Summary: The authentication and classification of rice varieties have been successfully achieved using FTIR spectroscopy and sparse chemometric methods in this study. The results showed that the sLDA model outperformed common chemometric methods in terms of interpretability and prediction accuracy. Sparse multivariate regression methods were also used for quantitative analysis and fast assessment of rice adulteration.

Excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy combined with chemometrics methods for rapid identification and quantification of adulteration in Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz

Min-Xi Li et al.

Summary: The study proposed a method using excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy combined with chemometrics for rapid identification and quantification of AMK adulteration. Classification of pure AMK and adulterated AMK was achieved using models such as kNN, PLS-DA, and RF. RF model accurately classified adulterated AMK samples, even with an adulteration level as low as 10%.

PLS-DA vs sparse PLS-DA in food traceability. A case study: Authentication of avocado samples

Ana M. Jimenez-Carvelo et al.

Summary: Conventional PLS-DA and sparse sPLS-DA were effectively used to authenticate avocado samples by analyzing lipid chromatographic fingerprints. The concatenated classification models successfully resolved multiclass problems in food authentication, with performance metrics around 0.95 for both multivariate classification methods.
