Synthesis, structural and metal-to-metal charge transfer properties of cyanide-bridged compound [FeII/III-NC-RuII-CN-FeII/III]

Yong Wang

Summary: A series of cyanide-bridged complexes were synthesized and characterized in three different redox states, revealing systematic changes in electronic structure and properties. The metal-to-metal charge transfer in the one-electron oxidation product 2 is attributed to Ru-II and Fe-II -> Fe-III transitions, while that in the two-electron oxidation product 3 is mainly attributed to Ru-II -> Fe-III transitions. Electron delocalization was observed in complexes 2 and 3, with stronger conjugation present in 3.

Metal-to-metal electron transfer in a cyanido-bridged {Fe2Co2} square complex followed by X-ray diffraction and absorption techniques

Corine Mathoniere et al.

Summary: The switching properties of a cyanido-bridged Fe/Co square molecule were investigated using single-crystal X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy at both Fe and Co K-edges. The study provides a complete picture of the metal-to-metal electron transfer under different stimuli, highlighting the concerted role played by the Fe and Co sites.

Effect of potential difference between the central and terminal metals on the electron communication in an Fe-Ru-Fe cyanidometal-bridged mixed valence system

Yu-Ying Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of trimetallic cyanidometal-bridged compounds were synthesized and characterized. The effect of the potential difference between the central and terminal metals on electron communication was investigated. Experimental results showed the presence of electronic interactions between the terminal Fe atoms, and an increase in the number of methyl substituents weakened the electron communication between the terminal Fe redox centers or between the neighboring Fe and Ru redox centers. All the mixed valence compounds exhibited localized character.

The Electron Transfer Process in Mixed Valence Compounds with a Low-lying Energy Bridge in Different Oxidation States

Summary: By synthesizing trimetallic isocyanidometal-bridged compounds with different oxidation states, the electron transfer process in oxidation reactions was investigated. The bridged states and mixed-valence states were simultaneously observed in N3+ compounds, while the electron transfer bridge excited state became more stable in N4+ compounds.
