The Reactivity of CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals toward Acid/Base Ligands

Francesco Zaccaria et al.

Summary: In this study, the interaction between CsPbBr3 nanocrystals passivated with didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDABr) and a series of acid/base ligands was investigated using computational and experimental approaches. It was found that the nanocrystals were inert towards most ligands, but showed reactivity towards carboxylic, phosphonic, and sulfonic acids. Oleic and oleylphosphonic acids were found to interact with surface-bound DDA molecules, causing displacement of DDABr. Despite the stripping of DDA ligands, the optical properties, structure, and morphology of the nanocrystals remained largely unaffected.

Exploiting the full advantages of colloidal perovskite nanocrystals for large-area efficient light-emitting diodes

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, highly efficient large-area PeLEDs with high uniformity were achieved through the use of colloidal perovskite nanocrystals. The precrystallized PNCs were not affected by the film formation process and a modified bar-coating method facilitated the formation of uniform large-area films. This method shows promise for the development of large-scale industrial displays and solid-state lighting.

Perovskite light-emitting diodes

Azhar Fakharuddin et al.

Summary: Light-emitting diodes based on halide perovskites have achieved significant progress in recent years, with external quantum efficiencies surpassing 23%. However, their practical application is still limited due to factors such as low efficiency in blue-emitting devices, inability to access emission wavelengths above 800 nm, decreased external quantum efficiency at high current density, lack of understanding of the electric field's effect on mobile ions in perovskite materials, and short device lifetimes. This review explores the development of perovskite light-emitting diodes, examining the key challenges in creating efficient and stable devices.

Comprehensive defect suppression in perovskite nanocrystals for high-efficiency light-emitting diodes

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, a one-dopant alloying strategy was employed to enhance electroluminescence efficiencies of metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) by reducing defect formation and enhancing charge carrier confinement. Surface-stabilizing agents and bromide vacancy healing agents were utilized to decrease defect density and improve carrier confinement, resulting in significant enhancement in performance.

Ligand-engineered bandgap stability in mixed-halide perovskite LEDs

Yasser Hassan et al.

Summary: By utilizing multidentate ligands to treat mixed-halide perovskite nanocrystals, efficient and color-stable red electroluminescence with a wavelength centered at 620 nanometers and an external quantum efficiency of 20.3% has been achieved. The key function of the ligand treatment is to 'clean' the nanocrystal surface by removing lead atoms, which suppresses the formation of iodine Frenkel defects and halide segregation. This work demonstrates the sensitivity of metal halide perovskites to surface properties and provides a pathway to control surface defect formation and migration, crucial for achieving bandgap stability for light emission and potentially impacting other optoelectronic applications.
