Screening of plant-based natural compounds as a potential COVID-19 main protease inhibitor: anin silicodocking and molecular dynamics simulation approach

Summary: This study investigates potential inhibitors of COVID-19 M(pro) and screens out several natural compounds through virtual molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. The results show that these natural compounds have high binding affinity to COVID-19 M(pro) and possess important dynamic properties such as stability and flexibility. However, further preclinical and clinical trials are needed to validate these compounds.

Optical characterization and tunable antibacterial properties of gold nanoparticles with common proteins

Summary: The interaction between three proteins (BSA, HSA, HEWL) and gold nanoparticles was studied using SPR, fluorescence, CD, TEM, and zeta potential analysis. The stability of protein-GNP complexes was greater than that of individual components, with HEWL-GNP being the most stable. Gold nanoparticles acted as quenchers, reducing protein fluorescence intensity. Absorbance increased with nanoparticle concentration due to peptide strand extension and decreased hydrophobicity.

Plasmonic contact lens materials for glucose sensing in human tears

Summary: The SERS-LM developed is capable of detecting glucose in human tears using a layer-by-layer structure composed of SF, AgNWs coated with MPBA, and PF. With a high density of hotspots for Raman signal enhancement, the SERS-LM demonstrates excellent glucose sensing performance within the concentration range of 500 nM - 1 mM. Furthermore, the tear glucose levels measured by the SERS-LM reflect trends of corresponding blood glucose levels, verifying its feasibility for noninvasive glucose sensing and potential application in various wearable personal health monitoring systems.
