The damaging effects of plastic wastes on the ecosystem call for the worldwide concern on rational strategies for plastic recycling. Catalytic technology provides an efficient and selective approach for recycling plastic wastes. This review summarizes recent progress in transforming plastic wastes into valued products using different sustainable catalytic technologies under mild conditions. Thermocatalysis, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and other emerging integrated catalytic technologies are introduced and discussed. The goal of this review is to inspire innovations for the sustainable and eco-friendly valorization of plastic waste resources to create a low-emission circular economy.
