The biosorption of Alizarin Red S by Spirulina platensis; process modelling, optimisation, kinetic and isotherm studies

Elaheh Nasoudari et al.

Summary: Spirulina platensis was used as a biosorbent to remove alizarin red S (ARS) dye. A statistical Box-Behnken approach was employed to determine the optimal conditions for dye removal. The results showed that the efficiency of ARS removal was influenced by the ARS concentration, pH, reaction time, and S. platensis dose. The Langmuir model and pseudo-first-order equation were found to be suitable for describing the adsorption isotherms and kinetics. The study concluded that S. platensis could be a viable option for future research due to its suitable adsorptive characteristics.

Adsorption of Malachite Green and Alizarin Red S Dyes Using Fe-BTC Metal Organic Framework as Adsorbent

Giulia Rossella Delpiano et al.

Summary: Synthetic organic dyes are commonly used in various industrial sectors but are also harmful water pollutants. In recent years, research has focused on developing materials for the removal of dyes from water, particularly nanostructured adsorbent materials like Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs). This study found that an iron-based Fe-BTC MOF showed good results in adsorbing alizarin red S and malachite green dyes, achieving rapid adsorption equilibrium.

Photo-degradation, thermodynamic and kinetic study of carcinogenic dyes via zinc oxide/graphene oxide nanocomposites

Farhana Anjum et al.

Summary: Pollution problems worsen with industrial development, with organic dyes being a toxic ingredient in industrial effluents. Zinc oxide/graphene oxide nanocomposite was synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized. Methyl red dye was used to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite, showing high efficiency possibly due to improved charge passage and separation.
