Zinc and phosphorus poisoning tolerance of Cu-SSZ-13 and Ce-Cu-SSZ-13 in the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides

Kunli Song et al.

Summary: This study synthesized two catalysts, Cu-SSZ-13 and cerium-doped Cu-SSZ-13, and explored their tolerance to zinc and phosphorus poisoning. It was found that the presence of zinc and phosphorus together led to the formation of zinc phosphate particles on the surface of Cu-SSZ-13, protecting the active sites and enhancing the de-NOx performance. Additionally, the introduction of cerium stabilized the active sites, further improving the de-NOx performance and poisoning tolerance of Cu-SSZ-13.

Summary: This study investigates the kinetic modeling of NH3-SCR with a Cu-ion-exchanged chabazite catalyst through flow reactor experiments and computational modeling. A scheme for SCR and side reactions involving 17 reactions is proposed based on previous proposals, and some reactions are validated by experimental results. The Arrhenius parameters for various reactions are obtained through kinetic experiments. A quantitative simulation model is developed and validated using experimental data. The model can predict steady-state SCR data and the adsorption/desorption of NH3 and NO2 under unsteady-state conditions.

Summary: Tuning the interaction between the metal oxide and support material is crucial for the catalytic purification of NH3. CuO/CeO2 catalysts with different shapes were prepared and analyzed for the selective catalytic oxidation of NH3. The Cu/Ce-NR catalyst exhibited better catalytic activity due to the presence of more interfacial sites and oxygen vacancies, as compared to Cu/Ce-NC catalysts. The study provides insights into the design and optimization of catalysts for NH3 purification.

Wuyuan Liu et al.

Summary: CeO2 modified Cu-SSZ-13 monolith catalysts were prepared using the solvent combustion method, and the Ce2Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst showed excellent activity, stability and resistance in NH3-SCR of NO. The modification of CeO2 enhanced the acidity, redox capacity and ammonia adsorption capacity, leading to the high performance of Ce2Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst. In addition, the porous structure generated via solvent combustion increased the diffusion rate of reaction and the introduction of CeO2 promoted the oxidation of NO to NO2, resulting in fast SCR reaction.

Strikingly distinctive NH3-SCR behavior over Cu-SSZ-13 in the presence of NO2

Yulong Shan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the inhibition of Cu-SSZ-13 zeolite catalysts in the presence of NO2 is due to the strong oxidation leading to the formation of Cu-II species with low mobility. This distinctive behavior is explained by the higher energy barrier of the SCR reaction occurring at the Cu-II sites compared to the standard SCR reaction on dynamic binuclear sites.
