Flexible photothermal biopaper comprising Cu2+-doped ultralong hydroxyapatite nanowires and black phosphorus nanosheets for accelerated healing of infected wound

Junkai Zeng et al.

Summary: A flexible photothermal biopaper has been developed for rapid healing of infected wounds. The biopaper combines black phosphorus nanosheets and antibacterial hydroxyapatite nanowires, demonstrating stable porous structure, high porosity, good biocompatibility, superior photothermal conversion ability, and antibacterial function. Under near infrared laser irradiation, the biopaper effectively eliminates bacteria and accelerates angiogenesis, promoting wound healing.

CO2-responsive functional cotton fibers decorated with Ag nanoparticles for smart selective and enhanced dye adsorption

Lin Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, CO2-responsive cotton fibers decorated with Ag nanoparticles (PCCF@Ag) were prepared by in-situ growth of Ag nanoparticles on poly(2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate-co-4-acryloyloxy-benzophenone) coated cotton fibers. The as-prepared PCCF@Ag exhibited excellent adsorption performance towards both anionic and cationic dyes, and showed significantly enhanced adsorption capacity under CO2 stimulation. The PCCF@Ag also demonstrated outstanding reusability and antibacterial activity.

Microbial fuel cell applications for removal of petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants: A review

Pegah Fatehbasharzad et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the application of bioelectrochemical systems (BESs), particularly microbial fuel cells (MFCs), in the remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated environments. The paper discusses the reactor design, critical issues, and evaluates aspects such as electrodes, redox mediators, membranes, and economic feasibility. The microbial community is also considered. The study concludes that single-chamber air-cathode reactors are more cost-effective compared to classic configurations, and recommends the development of small-scale units for future systems.
