White Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells Employing Phosphor-Sensitized Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence to Approach All-Phosphorescent Device Efficiencies

Xuan-Jun Chen et al.

Summary: This work proposes novel white LECs based on phosphor-sensitized thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), which have advantages of simple device architecture, low operation voltage, and insensitivity to the electrode work functions. The white LECs demonstrate efficient energy transfer efficiency and high device efficiency, with a high external quantum efficiency of 9.6%. By employing diffusive substrates to extract the light trapped in the substrate, the device efficiency can be further improved by approximately 50%. This work successfully demonstrates the potential of phosphor-sensitized TADF white LECs as efficient white light-emitting devices.

Controlling the Emission Zone by Additives for Improved Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells

Joan Rafols-Ribe et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the position of the emission zone in a light-emitting electrochemical cell can be effectively controlled by the inclusion of an appropriate additive in the active material. By modifying the end group of a neutral compound, the emission zone can be shifted from near the anode to the center of the active material, resulting in a 60% improvement in power efficiency. The important conclusion is that the emission zone position and the performance of the cell can be controlled by easily tuning the additive in the active material.
