Superselective Hg(II) Removal from Water Using a Thiol-Laced MOF-Based Sponge Monolith: Performance and Mechanism

Kaixing Fu et al.

Summary: This study developed a thiol-laced metal-organic framework (MOF)-based sponge monolith (TLMSM) as a point-of-use (POU) device for efficient removal of mercury (Hg). The TLMSM exhibited high adsorption capacity, fast kinetics, broad pH range, and excellent regeneration capability. It performed well in various real water matrices and showed great potential as POU devices. The adsorption complexes formed during the process were systematically investigated, revealing the working mechanism of the material.

Independent gradient model based on Hirshfeld partition: A new method for visual study of interactions in chemical systems

Tian Lu et al.

Summary: The powerful independent gradient model (IGM) method has limitations in graphically studying weak interactions. In this article, an improved version of IGM, called IGM based on Hirshfeld partition (IGMH), is proposed to overcome the shortcomings. The rigorous physical background of IGMH is demonstrated through various application examples, showcasing its important value in intuitively understanding interactions in chemical systems.

High-Performance Supercapacitor Electrodes Prepared From Dispersions of Tetrabenzonaphthalene-Based Conjugated Microporous Polymers and Carbon Nanotubes

Maha Mohamed Samy et al.

Summary: A series of conjugated microporous polymers were synthesized, with TBN-TPE-CMP showing high surface area and thermal stability. Blending with highly conductive single-walled carbon nanotubes improved the conductivity of the materials, with TBN-Py-CMP/SWCNT nanocomposite exhibiting high capacitance and excellent capacitance retention.

Efficient evaluation of electrostatic potential with computerized optimized code

Jun Zhang et al.

Summary: An efficient algorithm for evaluating ESP was proposed, which showed comparable or better performance than some state-of-the-art codes for systems like dopamine and remdesivir. The algorithm exhibited good parallelization scaling and was able to evaluate ESP for a system with 4840 GTOs and 259,262 ESP points in 1874 seconds on ordinary hardware.
