Flumequine-loaded titanate nanotubes as antibacterial agents for aquaculture farms

Tarek Baati et al.

Summary: This study proposes the encapsulation and delivery of the antibiotic FLUM using titanate nanotubes (TiNTs). The results demonstrate that FLUM@TiNTs have high antimicrobial activity and improved intestinal permeation, suggesting their potential for enhancing the effectiveness of FLUM and overcoming challenges associated with antibiotic use in fish farming.

EPR Evidence for Mechanistic Diversity of Cu(II)/Peroxygen Oxidation Systems by Tracing the Origin of DMPO Spin Adducts

Lingli Wang et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigates the origin of 5,5-dimethyl-l-pyrroline N-oxide (DMPO) adducts in Cu(II) based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and finds that there are other factors contributing to the formation of these adducts in addition to the genuine spin trapping mechanism.

Concentrate and degrade PFOA with a photo-regenerable composite of In-doped TNTs@AC

Jan-Max Arana Juve et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel composite adsorptive photocatalyst, activated carbon-supported titanate nanotubes doped with post-transition metal of Indium, showed excellent adsorption and photodegradation of perfluorooctanoic acid. The heterojunction structure of the composite facilitated a cooperative adsorption mode and the presence of Indium enabled direct electron transfer and subsequent defluorination. The findings demonstrated the potential of adsorptive photocatalysts for the removal and degradation of trace pollutants.

Efficient and Fast Removal of Oils from Water Surfaces via Highly Oleophilic Polyurethane Composites

Antonio De Nino et al.

Summary: The study showed that the oil adsorption capacity of composites coated with silica and activated carbon was significantly increased in diesel, reaching 36% and 50%, respectively. These composites also performed well in gasoline and motor oil, achieving complete adsorption within seconds. The adsorption process followed a monolayer adsorption fitted by the Langmuir isotherm.
