Preparation of alumina/silica/exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets composite aerogels and its application as supporting material for erythritol based form-stable phase change materials

Summary: Alumina-silica (Al-Si) and Al-Si/exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets (xGnPs) composite aerogels were prepared using an epoxide method followed by ambient pressure drying and heat treatment. The addition of xGnPs in Al-Si aerogels resulted in composite aerogels with high specific surface area and low volume shrinkage. The synthesized aerogels were then used to prepare form-stable phase change materials (FSPCMs) by vacuum infiltrating erythritol (ET). The FSPCMs exhibited enhanced thermal conductivity and light-to-thermal conversion efficiency, as well as good long-term thermal reliability.

Ultra-Stable Phase Change Coatings by Self-Cross-Linkable Reactive Poly(ethylene glycol) and MWCNTs

Summary: In this study, polyethylene glycol/MXene-cellulose aerogels fs-CPCMs with enhanced light-to-heat conversion, heat transfer, and storage were prepared using freezing casting and in situ encapsulation. The light-to-heat conversion efficiency of PMC fs-CPCMs reached 91.6% due to the presence of MXene. Dispersed MXene improved the heat transfer, and in situ encapsulation prevented reduction in latent heat.

Preparation and application of composite phase change materials stabilized by cellulose nanofibril-based foams for thermal energy storage

Summary: In this study, cellulose nanofibril-based foams were used as scaffolds for polyethylene glycol and paraffin wax to prevent leakage and improve heat transfer performance. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes were incorporated to enhance the thermal conductivity. The prepared foams had high porosity and low density, resulting in high PCM loading levels and negligible leakage. The addition of CNTs improved the heat transfer performance and thermal stability of the composite PCMs. Novel PCM sandwich structures based on these composite PCMs showed promising potential for solar energy harvesting and utilization.

An intrinsically flexible phase change film for wearable thermal managements
