Insight into the Evolution Track for the Metathesis of Alkenes within Hierarchical Zeolite-Based Catalysts

Ning Wei et al.

Summary: The usage of hierarchical MFI zeolite enhances the catalytic performance of Mo-based catalysts for the olefin-metathesis reaction. The active catalysts are obtained through a segmental evolution track between hierarchical zeolite and Al2O3 slices for the formation of active sites. The working evolution track requires the engagement of intracrystalline mesoporous surface, Al2O3 slices, and zeolitic Bronsted acid sites.

Low-temperature selective transformation of diethylbenzene to isobutane and cyclohexanes via the interplay of Pt and acid centres in Pt/H-*BEA zeolites

Dalibor Kaucky et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Pt/H-Al-rich *BEA zeolite catalysts can selectively crack DEB at low temperatures, improving the selectivity of products. The high selectivity of product transformation can be achieved at 200 degrees Celsius through the high activity of Pt clusters and the interaction of Bronsted acid sites in acid-catalyzed reactions.

Effects of Intimacy between Acid and Metal Sites on the Isomerization of n-C16 at the Large/Minor Nanoscale and Atomic Scale

Junhao Sun et al.

Summary: This study designed acid-metal bifunctional catalysts with different levels of intimacy between acid and metal sites and investigated their effect on the isomerization of long-chain alkanes. The intimacy at different scales was controlled through specific methods, and the intimacy level had varying impacts on the isomerization process.

Maximizing noble metal utilization in solid catalysts by control of nanoparticle location

Kang Cheng et al.

Summary: By rational arrangement of functional sites, the minimum loading of platinum can be reduced, enhancing the performance of catalysts. Deposition of trace amounts of platinum nanoparticles on the alumina binder or the outer surface of zeolite crystals increases selectivity and preserves the metal and acid functions.

Zeolite Fixed Metal Nanoparticles: New Perspective in Catalysis

Yeqing Wang et al.

Summary: Loading metal nanoparticles within zeolite crystals provides advantages of high activity, shape selectivity, and stability, addressing the shortcomings of traditional supported metal nanoparticles. The combination of metal nanoparticles and zeolites in metal@zeolite catalysts offers enhanced catalytic performance by facilitating reactant diffusion, adjusting adsorption, and sieving reactants and products in zeolite micropores. Optimizing wettability and microporous confinement in zeolites further improves efficiency and productivity in catalytic reactions, making these catalysts promising for industrial applications and fundamental catalytic research.

The active phase in cobalt-based Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

Iris C. ten Have et al.

Summary: Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is an industrial catalytic process that converts a mixture of CO and hydrogen into long-chain hydrocarbons for clean transportation fuels and chemical building blocks. The determination of the catalytically active phase remains challenging and a topic of debate, as different cobalt phases exhibit different catalytic behavior. The delineation between an active and inactive phase is often unclear.
