Synthesis of porous poly(ionic liquid)s for chemical CO2 fixation with epoxides

Guoqing Li et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the recent progress in the synthesis and post-synthesis of porous poly(ionic liquid)s (PILs) catalysts for carbon dioxide (CO2) cycloaddition. The synthesis methods and catalytic behaviors of porous PILs in CO2 cycloaddition are discussed. It is highlighted that the rational design of IL monomers and optimization of synthetic parameters are crucial for developing high-performance catalysts.

Regulation of Novel Multi-Center Ionic Liquids for Synergetically Catalyzing CO2 Conversion into Cyclic Carbonates

Jie Chang et al.

Summary: A family of novel multi-center ionic liquids was designed for efficient transformation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates. Among these ILs, the multi-center hexabutylimidazole bromobenzene exhibited excellent performance with high propylene epoxide conversion and selectivity. The possible mechanism involved hydrogen-bond induction and hindrance regulation, providing a new approach for development of highly efficient ILs in green chemical processes.
