NHC and visible light-mediated photoredox co-catalyzed 1,4-sulfonylacylation of 1,3-enynes for tetrasubstituted allenyl ketones

Lihong Wang et al.

Summary: The modulation of selectivity of highly reactive carbon radical cross-coupling for the construction of C-C bonds was achieved using N-Heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyzed radical transformations. This method successfully realized highly selective cross-coupling between acyl radicals and alkyl radicals for efficient construction of C-C bonds. The study further investigated the cross-coupling reaction of acyl radicals with vinyl radicals, providing valuable insights into the mechanism.

Development of Novel Phosphino-Oxazoline Ligands and Their Application in Asymmetric Alkynlylation of Benzylic Halides

Rui Guo et al.

Summary: A new set of stereochemically diverse phosphino-oxazoline ligands derived from simple L-amino acids and 2-(diphenylphosphaneyl)benzoic acid were developed. These mono anionic tridentated N,N,P-ligands promote the Cu-catalyzed enantioselective radical coupling of terminal alkynes with a broad range of benzylic halides in high yield and excellent enantioselectivity under mild reaction conditions. Notably, the enantioselective alkynlylation of benzylic halides bonds in benzo-cyclic molecules has also been realized for the first time.

Photoinduced Copper-Catalyzed Asymmetric C(sp3)-H Alkynylation of Cyclic Amines by Intramolecular 1,5-Hydrogen Atom Transfer

Rui Guo et al.

Summary: This study successfully developed a mild and general method for C(sp(3))-H functionalization of cyclic amines. By utilizing intramolecular 1,5-hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) under photo-irradiation, the enantioselective C(sp(3))-H alkynylation of unactivated cyclic 2-iodo-benzamide was achieved. The use of a new bisoxazoline diphenylamine ligand in combination with 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol significantly improved the reduction potential of the copper complex. This method not only demonstrates a broad substrate scope, including unprecedented benzocyclic amines, but also exhibits excellent diastereoselectivity in 2-monosubstituted cyclic amines via substrate control.

Xiao-Yang Dong et al.

Summary: A copper-catalyzed asymmetric radical 1,4-carboalkynylation of 1,3-enynes has been reported, providing diverse synthetically challenging tetrasubstituted chiral allenes. The use of a chiral N,N,P-ligand is crucial for both reaction initiation and enantiocontrol over the highly reactive allenyl radicals. The reaction shows broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance.

Stereodivergent Synthesis of Tertiary Fluoride-Tethered Allenes via Copper and Palladium Dual Catalysis

Shao-Qian Yang et al.

Summary: The protocol describes the unprecedented stereodivergent synthesis of tertiary fluoride-tethered allenes with a stereogenic center and stereogenic axis via Cu/Pd synergistic catalysis. A wide range of conjugated enynes are coupled with various alpha-fluoroesters in high yields and diastereoselectivity. The novel stereodivergent axial-to-central chirality transfer process enables precise access to the corresponding four stereoisomers of fluorinated hydrofurans.

Asymmetric Alkyl and Aryl/Azolation of Alkenes via a Single Cu(I) Complex

Xiaodong Ma et al.

Summary: This study describes a copper-catalyzed, highly enantioselective alkyl and aryl/azolation of alkenes, where the use of a specific chiral ligand plays a crucial role in the success of the chemistry. Anionic tridentate ligands are employed to enhance the reducibility of copper complexes, facilitating the generation of alkyl/aryl radicals and providing good enantiocontrol in the azolation. The three-component coupling reactions have mild reaction conditions and can tolerate a broad range of functional groups, allowing for the straightforward introduction of valuable azole functionalities into complex molecular systems through direct C-H functionalization.

Decarboxylative 1,4-carbocyanation of 1,3-enynes to access tetra-substituted allenes via copper/photoredox dual catalysis

Ya Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, we combine photoredox catalysis and copper catalysis for the first time to achieve radical 1,4-carbocyanations of 1,3-enynes. By utilizing alkyl N-hydroxyphthalimide esters as radical precursors, the mild and redox-neutral protocol shows broad substrate scope and remarkable functional group tolerance. This strategy enables the synthesis of diverse multi-substituted allenes with high chemo- and regio-selectivities, allowing late stage allenylation of natural products and drug molecules.
