Near-UV-excitable broadband green-emitting Ca2LaHf2GaAl2O12:Ce3+garnet-type phosphors for high color rendering warm-white LEDs

A highly efficient and broadband near-infrared-emitting garnet phosphor for plant lighting realized by cation co-substitution in lutetium aluminum garnet

Summary: Near-infrared phosphor-converted light emitting diodes (NIR pc-LEDs) are rapidly developing in plant cultivation due to their low cost, compact size, and high efficiency. The study successfully developed a highly efficient and thermally stable Cr3+ doped Lu2CaAl4SiO12 (LCAS) phosphor with broadband NIR emission. The LCAS:0.07 Cr3+ phosphor exhibited a major emission peak at 740 nm and high internal/external quantum yield (IQY/EQY). When incorporated into a pc-LED, the LCAS:0.07Cr3+ showed promising device output power and photoelectric efficiency, indicating its potential application in plant cultivation lighting.

Summary: The urgent need for a novel NIR phosphor with broadband emission, strong luminescence, and high thermal stability has driven the development of three isotypic garnet fluorides activated by Cr3+. Among them, NInLF:Cr3+ exhibited the highest IQE, while NAlLF:Cr3+ showed excellent thermal stability at 423K. The packaged NIR pc-LEDs demonstrated an output power of 149 mW and a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 14.3% at 350 mA, with clear images of blood vessel distribution obtained under NIR light irradiation, indicating great potential in the biomedical field.

Full spectrum light-emitting diodes based on a new efficient zirconium silicate green phosphor for healthy lighting
