Role of defects on the nonlinear optical properties of La doped Bi2WO6 nanostructures for optical device applications

S. Shanthi et al.

Summary: Lanthanum-doped bismuth tungstate nanostructures were successfully synthesized by chemical method and their third order nonlinear optical properties were investigated. The effects of La doping on the optical, structure, chemical composition, and morphology of the nanostructures were confirmed. The addition of La dopant resulted in a shift in the absorption edge towards higher wavelength and a decrease in the band gap values. Nonlinear absorption and refraction characteristics were found to increase upon La doping.

The origin of bright cyan persistent luminescence in Ca2SnO4:La3+

Andris Antuzevics et al.

Summary: The origin of bright cyan persistent luminescence in La3+-doped Ca2SnO4 is investigated using optical and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy methods. It is found that the incorporation of La3+ ions stimulates the formation of Sn2+ emission centers and charge trap centers, leading to the creation of two types of paramagnetic defects through charge transfer processes.

Photo-sensing properties of Cd-doped In2S3 thin films fabricated via low-cost nebulizer spray pyrolysis technique

S. Rajeswari et al.

Summary: This study reports the fabrication of cadmium-doped indium sulfide thin films using a low-cost spray pyrolysis process for photo-sensing applications. The impact of different cadmium concentrations on the structure, morphology, optical properties, and photo-sensing capabilities of the thin films was examined. The results showed that the 4% cadmium-doped sample exhibited excellent absorption in the visible and ultraviolet regions, and had high performance in terms of light current, responsivity, and detectivity. Therefore, this Cd-doped indium sulfide thin film sample may be well-suited for photodetector applications.

Pooja Prakash et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to fabricate an effective solar cell using extracts from Aloe Vera, False Daisy, Papaya leaves, and a combination of these extracts. The sensitization time and extraction procedure of natural dye sensitizers were optimized and analyzed. The absorbance spectra of the natural dyes and the characteristics of the dye molecules were examined. The DSSCs photovoltaic characteristics were analyzed by various parameters, and the efficiency of the nano TiO2-based DSSC using the Cocktail extract was found to be approximately 1.79%, while the Aloe Vera extract achieved an efficiency of about 0.75%. The combination extract in ethanol displayed high photosensitization effects.
