Critical field analysis and magnetic properties of perovskite manganese oxide La0.8Ca0.2Mn1-xNixO3(x=0.0,0.1,0.2)

Cheng Li et al.

Summary: This study explored the critical field analysis and magnetocaloric effect of polycrystalline perovskite manganese oxide samples. The substitution of Mn3+ ions by Ni2+ ions resulted in a decrease in crystal parameters, unit cell volume, Curie temperature, and magnetic entropy change. The undoped sample exhibited a maximum difference in magnetic entropy of 6.15 J/kg.K and a refrigeration efficiency of 422.94 J/kg at an applied magnetic field of 7 T. The phase transitions of the samples varied between first and second order, and the correlation between magnetic field and maximum change in magnetic entropy followed a power law.

Maximizing the mechanical performance of Ti3AlC2-based MAX phases with aid of machine learning

Xingjun Duan et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel strategy based on the crystal graph convolution neural network (CGCNN) model has been successfully employed to tune the mechanical properties of Ti3AlC2-based MAX phases. The structure-property correlation between A-site substitution and mechanical properties of Ti-3(Al(1-x)A(x))C-2 is established. The results show that the thermodynamic stability, stiffness, thermal shock resistance, and plasticity of Ti3AlC2 can be improved by the substitution of different elements, providing universal guidance for the synthesis of high-performance MAX phases.

Giant magnetocaloric effect and magnetic properties of nanocomposites of manganite Nd1-xSrxMnO3 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8) synthesized using modified sol-gel method

I. Z. Al-Yahmadi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the magnetocaloric effect in an array of nanocomposites manganite Nd1-xSrxMnO3, where the replacement of Nd3+ by Sr2+ influenced the structure and enhanced magnetic properties. All samples exhibited ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition with increasing temperature and showed phase transitions, except Nd0.6Sr0.4MnO3, which exhibited a peak Curie temperature near room temperature. The Nd0.6Sr0.4MnO3 nanocomposite showed a relatively giant value of magnetic entropy, making it a potential material for magnetic cooling applications.

Summary: The influence of Ca-doping on the structural, magnetic, and magnetocaloric properties of La0.6Bi0.1Sr0.3-xCaxMn0.9Cu0.1O3 specimens was investigated. The magnetic phase transition was found to be of second-order type with critical exponent values close to the 3D Ising model. The reliability of the critical exponent was further confirmed through various methods.

Role of oxygen content in thickness dependent phase transition temperatures in La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 films

Lu Yin et al.

Summary: The thickness-dependent phase transition temperatures of manganite epitaxial films are affected by the oxygen content, in addition to the variation in epitaxial strain. The excess oxygen induced by post-annealing leads to a lower Mn3+/Mn4+ ratio approaching the optimal value and stronger double exchange interaction, affecting the phase transition temperatures. The optimal Mn3+/Mn4+ ratio results in the strongest double exchange interaction in LSMO films of a certain thickness.
