CuGaO2/TiO2 heterostructure nanosheets: Synthesis, enhanced photocatalytic performance, and underlying mechanism

Jia-Qi Li et al.

Summary: Heterostructures consisting of CuGaO2 nanosheets and TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized through a one-pot hydrothermal method. The CuGaO2/TiO2 heterostructure exhibited a higher photocurrent density and tetracycline hydrochloride degradation efficiency compared to pristine CuGaO2 nanosheets and TiO2 nanoparticles. Experimental characterizations and density functional theory calculations showed that the built-in electric field in the CuGaO2/TiO2 interface region promoted the separation of photogenerated carriers.

Enhanced H2S sensing performance of BiFeO3 based MEMS gas sensor with corona poling

Xiaojie Li et al.

Summary: BFO nanoparticles with rhombohedral distorted perovskite structure were prepared using a sol-gel method and treated with corona poling under different electric fields. The gas sensing performance of BFO-based MEMS sensors improved with increasing corona poling fields. The corona poling treatment promoted ion displacement, lattice expansion, and increased dipole moments in the BFO nanoparticles, leading to a reduced band gap, increased oxygen adsorption, and improved H2S sensing performance of the MEMS gas sensor.

Oleophobic interaction mediated slippery organogels with ameliorated mechanical performance and satisfactory fouling-resistance

Liangpeng Zeng et al.

Summary: Due to their semi-solid property and lubricant ability, organogels have potential applications in antifouling. However, their poor mechanical properties limit their practical use. In this study, a simple and effective method was developed to enhance the mechanical performance and surface lubrication of organogels using oleophobic and oleophilic chains. The reinforced organogels showed superior mechanical properties compared to traditional organogels, and demonstrated reduced protein and bacteria adhesion, making them promising materials for various functional requirements.

Design strategies and structure-performance relationships of heterogeneous catalysts for selective hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene

Mengru Wang et al.

Summary: Selective hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene is a crucial process in the petroleum chemical sector, and catalyst design plays a key role in achieving high selectivity. However, there is a lack of critical reviews on catalyst development in literature. This review provides an in-depth overview of different catalyst families, particularly the precious metal-based monometallic catalysts (Pd, Pt, and Au), emphasizing the development of new strategies for high-performance architectures, the establishment of structure-performance relationships, and the reaction and deactivation mechanisms. Thrilling directions for future optimization of catalyst formulations and engineering aspect are also discussed.
