Interplay of Magnetic Properties and Doping in Epitaxial Films of h-REFeO3 Multiferroic Oxides

Ali Baghizadeh et al.

Summary: Multiferroic materials with coexistence of magnetic and ferroelectric orders are promising candidates for magnetoelectric devices. Understanding the underlying mechanisms and tailoring the properties to make them suitable for such devices is challenging. Research on epitaxial films of (Lu,Sc)FeO3 shows an increase in the Neel ordering temperature, highlighting the significant impact of lattice strain on thin film properties.

Inkjet Printing Epitaxial Metal Halide Perovskites on Various Substrates?

Chaojing Lu et al.

Summary: The study points out the doubts surrounding Sytnyk et al.'s claims of epitaxial deposition of metal halide perovskites by inkjet printing on various substrates, emphasizing that optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy images alone are insufficient evidence. A new methodology to quantify the volume fraction of each epitaxial component in a thin film from XRD measurements is proposed as a way to address the errors in verifying epitaxy.

Reduced coercive field in epitaxial thin film of ferroelectric wurtzite Al0.7Sc0.3N

Keisuke Yazawa et al.

Summary: The study shows that the coercive field of epitaxial ferroelectric wurtzite films can be reduced through epitaxial mismatch strain. These results demonstrate that altering the crystal structure parameters can lower the coercive field of ferroelectric films.

Effect of Mn substitution on crystal structure and electrical behaviour of YFeO3 ceramic

Lokesh Suthar et al.

Summary: Polycrystalline ceramic samples of Mn substituted Yttrium ortho-ferrite were synthesized using the conventional high temperature solid-state reaction method. Analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed the formation of the polycrystalline compound, exhibiting a monophasic orthorhombic structure. The study also revealed trends in crystallite size, dielectric properties, impedance, and conductivity with varying Mn content, temperature, and frequency.

Manipulation of Magnetic Domain Walls by Ferroelectric Switching: Dynamic Magnetoelectricity at the Nanoscale

Jun Chen et al.

Summary: A mechanism for manipulating magnetic domain walls in ferrimagnetic or ferromagnetic multiferroics using electric field is proposed. The magnetoelectric coupling relies on collaborative spin dynamics around domain walls, leading to a rolling-downhill-like motion and local magnetization tuning. This mechanism opens an alternative route to practical and fast converse magnetoelectric functions via spin dynamics.

Low-Voltage Magnetoelectric Coupling in Fe0.5Rh0.5/0.68PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-0.32PbTiO3 Thin-Film Heterostructures

Wenbo Zhao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a method to achieve low-voltage control of magnetism and describes a methodology for probing and quantifying magnetoelectric coupling. Through experiments, the magnetoelectric coupling coefficient is estimated to reach approximately 7 x 10(-8) s m(-1) at 325 K when applying a -0.75 V bias.

Stromataxic Stabilization of a Metastable Layered ScFeO3 Polymorph

Lauren M. Garten et al.

Summary: The development of a stabilization approach, stromataxy, allows for the successful stabilization of metastable polymorphs that are difficult to achieve through other techniques. By controlling the precursor structure during material growth, this method dictates phase formation by utilizing the importance of the variable oxidation state of Fe and layer stability. Stromataxy is a viable option for accessing polymorphs that are close in energy, difficult to differentiate by strain, or lack a well epitaxially matched substrate.
