Immobilization of vanadium and nickel in spent fluid catalytic cracking (SFCC) catalysts-based geopolymer

Ruobing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the immobilization rates of vanadium and nickel in geopolymers prepared with SFCC catalysts, revealing the mechanisms by which nickel is partly dissolved and adsorbed while vanadium remains a potential source of environmental contamination. By leaching SFCC catalysts with different vanadium levels, it was determined that a vanadium content below 1861.4 mg/kg poses minimal risk to the environment when used in geopolymers.
