Highly active and durable chlorobenzene oxidation catalyst via porous atomic layer coating of Ru on Pt/Al2O3

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: We designed and fabricated a novel subnanometer Ru-coating Pt/Al2O3 catalyst (named RuPt-ALD) via atomic layer deposition (ALD), which showed excellent capability of tuning catalysts' structure-property relationship for chlorobenzene (CB) oxidation. RuPt-ALD exhibited optimal activity and selectivity, with a stable CB conversion of similar to 98% for 600 minutes at 200°C in humid air, surpassing bare Ru or Pt samples. Experimental verification and theoretical calculation identified that the lower barriers of CB adsorption and O-2 dissociation on RuPt-ALD contributed to its stronger CB adsorption and appropriate oxygen activation capacity, which were the core factors for the excellent performance under humid feed.

Pore-scale investigation on multiphase reactive transport for the conversion of levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone with Ru/C catalyst

Xiangqian Wei et al.

Summary: The study developed a pore-scale multiphase reactive transport model based on the lattice Boltzmann method to simulate the conversion of levulinic acid to gamma-valerolactone over Ru/C catalyst. The simulation results showed that the consumption rate of levulinic acid is determined by temperature and dissolved hydrogen, and a negative effect on the reaction was observed when the average concentration of levulinic acid was lower than 0.5 mol/L.

Summary: This study successfully developed a microwave-assisted synthesis route for FAU zeolite, resulting in a highly crystalline zeolite with a hierarchical nanostructure. Pt and Cu catalysts were loaded onto the synthesized zeolite using a novel polyol impregnation method, achieving adequate metal loading and homogeneous dispersion. The materials were characterized using various techniques and used in the catalytic transfer hydrogenation of GVL, with the 3%Pt/MOFAU catalyst showing the highest selectivity for 2-MTHF.

Catalytic conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) over Pd-Ru/FAU zeolite catalysts

Nathalia Ramirez Bocanegra et al.

Summary: This study focuses on preparing FAU-type zeolites with various Si/Al ratios and crystallization times to enhance surface area properties. Bimetallic Pd-Ru and Pt-Ru were loaded onto the zeolite matrix, and the interaction between the properties of zeolitic support and the metallic species, specifically Pd, positively affected the catalytic process. Lower Si/Al ratios favored catalytic activity, and longer crystallization times improved surface area and crystallinity.
