Atomically Thin Hexagonal Boron Nitride and Its Heterostructures

Jia Zhang et al.

Summary: Atomically thin hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a promising 2D material with unique properties for applications in optoelectronics and electronics. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is considered a promising method for producing large-scale, high-quality h-BN films and heterostructures. The epitaxial growth of 2D materials onto h-BN and building heterostructures can lead to novel properties.

Single-step synthesis of efficient nanometric boron carbon nitride semiconductor for photocatalysis

K. Sivaprakash et al.

Summary: Carbon-based materials have shown advantages as photocatalysts over metal-based materials. In this study, Boron Carbon Nitride nanosheets were synthesized via two different routes for the photodegradation of textile dyes in wastewater. The study compared the optical properties of the two samples and found that TBCN exhibited superior photocatalytic activity, making it suitable for water purification applications.

Structure, Properties and Applications of Two-Dimensional Hexagonal Boron Nitride

Soumyabrata Roy et al.

Summary: Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a strong candidate for two-dimensional (2D) materials due to its exciting optoelectrical properties, combined with mechanical robustness, thermal stability, and chemical inertness. Various synthesis strategies for 2D h-BN, including chemical exfoliation, chemical, and physical vapor deposition, have been developed in recent years. The potential applications of h-BN structures in nanoelectronics, photonics, biomedical, anti-corrosion, and catalysis are described based on their extraordinary properties and stability.

High-performance adsorptive desulfurization by ternary hybrid boron carbon nitride aerogel

Jing Luo et al.

Summary: Novel aerogel-like boron carbon nitride (BCN) materials with excellent desulfurization capacity were prepared through a hydrogel template and freeze-casting strategy. The BCN aerogels exhibited superior adsorption performance and selective adsorption characteristics for removing aromatic organosulfur compounds. This study also revealed heterogeneous adsorption mechanisms on BCN aerogels through pi-pi and Lewis acid-base interactions, indicating their potential for efficient sulfur removal in fuel refining processes.
