A facile method to enhance the flexibility and triboelectric output of PDMS using ionic liquid-coated single-wall carbon nanotubes

Xiaoyue Zhao et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the fabrication of a PDMS composite using embedded ionic liquid coated single-wall carbon nanotubes for wearable triboelectric nanogenerators. The composite exhibits high electrical conductivity and enhanced triboelectric output compared to unmodified PDMS. The increase in conductivity and triboelectric output is attributed to the dispersion of carbon nanotubes in the polymer matrix and the addition of the ionic liquid. The study not only provides a facile method to improve the flexibility, electrical conductivity, and triboelectric output of PDMS, but also generalizes the approach for exploring new flexible and electrically conductive materials for wearable triboelectric nanogenerators.

Electromechanical coupling modeling and analysis of contact-separation mode triboelectric nanogenerators

Wenpeng Sun et al.

Summary: An electromechanical coupling model (EMCM) was constructed and analyzed for a contact-separation mode triboelectric nanogenerator (CS-TENG). By considering the contact-impact force between the moving and fixed electrodes, a piecewise linear differential equation of the moving electrode was derived to establish the EMCM with nonlinear variation of electrode distance. The effects of vibration excitation amplitude, contact stiffness, and structural damping on the output characteristics were discussed, demonstrating the necessity of considering the nonlinear variation of electrode distance in the EMCM.
