OMIP-088: Twenty-target imaging mass cytometry panel for major cell populations in mouse formalin fixed paraffin embedded liver

Fabienne Birrer et al.

Summary: The purpose of this panel is to identify cell types in mouse liver tissue using the Hyperion mass cytometer. The panel includes markers for hepatocytes, liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, Kupffer cells, neutrophils, bone marrow derived myeloid cells, cholangiocytes, endothelial cells, plasmacytoid dendritic cells, B cells, T cells, NK cells, as well as markers for cell activation, proliferation, and cell segmentation. The panel has been tested in other mouse tissues and is likely to work in various mouse FFPE samples. However, it has not been tested in human samples, frozen samples, or suspension mass cytometry. Overall, this panel is a powerful tool for pre-clinical research in determining cellular abundance and spatial distribution in mouse tissues.

Targeting lactate dehydrogenase B-dependent mitochondrial metabolism affects tumor initiating cells and inhibits tumorigenesis of non-small cell lung cancer by inducing mtDNA damage

Haibin Deng et al.

Summary: The study reveals the crucial role of lactate dehydrogenase B (LDHB) in regulating glucose and mitochondrial metabolism, and its impact on the survival and proliferation of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells.

Anesthesia and analgesia for common research models of adult mice

Siavash Ahmadi-Noorbakhsh et al.

Summary: Anesthesia and analgesia play important roles in laboratory animal research, but there is improper reporting or use of these drugs in many studies. This unethical practice may contribute to the suboptimal quality of animal research.

Low neoantigen expression and poor T-cell priming underlie early immune escape in colorectal cancer

Peter M. K. Westcott et al.

Summary: The study reveals that despite low TMB, tumors from patients with microsatellite stable colorectal cancer still express predicted neoantigens, although at lower levels compared to those in colorectal cancer with microsatellite instability. Low expression of neoantigens may lead to immediate T-cell dysfunction, but it can be controlled by restoring priming in tumors with low neoantigen expression.
