SNX5 suppresses clear cell renal cell carcinoma progression by inducing CD44 internalization and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition

Qingqing Zhou et al.

Summary: Aberrant expression of SNX5 is associated with tumorigenesis, invasion, and metastasis in several human cancers. This study reveals that SNX5 expression is downregulated in ccRCC and is negatively correlated with tumor size, cancer stage, tumor thrombus of inferior vena cava, and poor prognosis. SNX5 inhibits ccRCC cell proliferation and metastasis, and its knockdown increases these activities. Moreover, SNX5 overexpression blocks CD44 internalization and intracellular trafficking, inhibits TGF-beta-induced migration, invasion, and EMT in ccRCC cells.

YBX1 knockdown induces renal cell carcinoma cell apoptosis via Kindlin-2

Qiqi Cui et al.

Summary: YBX1, a well-known oncoprotein, promotes cell adhesion, migration, and invasion in RCC cells while inhibiting apoptosis. The study revealed that YBX1 regulates RCC cell apoptosis and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) via Kindlin-2, suggesting its potential as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target for RCC.

The Sigma-2 Receptor/TMEM97 Agonist PB28 Suppresses Cell Proliferation and Invasion by Regulating the PI3K-AKT-mTOR Signalling Pathway in Renal Cancer

Bo Zhan et al.

Summary: PB28 inhibits tumorigenic behaviors of renal cancer cells by regulating the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway and acts as a sensitizer of cisplatin.

Actin-Like Protein 8 Promotes the Progression of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer via Activating PI3K/AKT/mTOR Pathway

Shaoxia Fan et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that ACTL8 is upregulated in TNBC and is associated with poor prognosis. Silencing ACTL8 inhibited proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 and BT-549 cells. Additionally, silencing ACTL8 suppressed the activation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in these cells, indicating a potential mechanism of ACTL8 in TNBC progression.

High SAA1 Expression Predicts Advanced Tumors in Renal Cancer

Sen Li et al.

Summary: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most frequent malignant tumor of the kidney, with 30% of patients being diagnosed at an advanced stage. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common subtype, and SAA1 has been identified as a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker for advanced ccRCC. Studies show that high levels of SAA1 are associated with poor overall and disease-free survival times in advanced ccRCC patients. Targeting SAA1 may offer a novel therapeutic approach for these patients.

Reduced hyaluronan cross-linking induces breast cancer malignancy in a CAF-dependent manner

Guoliang Zhang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the deficiency of cross-linked HA induced breast cancer malignancy in a CAF-dependent manner, with CAFs restoring high levels of cross-linked HA and inhibiting malignancy through upregulating TSG6. These findings suggest that recovering HA cross-linking may be a potential therapeutic strategy.
