The Role of Catch Portfolios in Characterizing Species' Economic Linkages and Fishers' Responses to Climate Change Impacts

Smit Vasquez Caballero et al.

Summary: This study used survey data and network analysis to evaluate the economic connectivity among species harvested by small-scale Galician fishers. The results showed that fishers tend to add species with low centrality in the network and diversify their portfolios of permits in response to climate change impacts. Therefore, considering the impact of fishers' behavior on species connectivity is important for improving institutional arrangements that promote the resilience of small-scale fisheries.
