Modeling particulate matter concentration in indoor environment with cellular automata framework

Hsiang-Lin Yu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new 3D approach for modeling indoor airborne particulate matter (PM) concentration using cellular automata (CA) framework. By considering four major PM transport mechanisms, the CA approach achieves high accuracy and efficiency in numerical simulations, making it a useful tool for 3D simulations of indoor PM transport and distribution.

Dynamic-wave cellular automata framework for shallow water flow modeling

Tsang-Jung Chang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new dynamic-wave cellular automata framework for two-dimensional shallow water flow modeling, which accurately models strong discontinuous flows by adopting Bernoulli hydraulic head. It achieves satisfactory results in regular flows and performs better than a non-inertia wave CA-based model and achieves the same accuracy as a finite volume model in modeling strong discontinuous flows. The framework is also more accurate in modeling moving wet-dry interfaces and flows under partially wet conditions. The SWFCA model has proven to be accurate and efficient for shallow water flow modeling and has potential as a useful tool for real-time flood inundation modeling.

Overland-gully-sewer (2D-1D-1D) urban inundation modeling based on cellular automata framework

Tsang-Jung Chang et al.

Summary: A new approach for urban inundation modeling integrating 2D and 1D models with a cellular automata framework has been proposed in this study. It showed improved accuracy and computational efficiency compared to traditional approaches, making it a useful tool for real-time urban inundation modeling.
