Research progress on RNA-binding proteins in breast cancer

Ying Chen et al.

Summary: Abnormal regulation of gene expression plays a crucial role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer, and RBPs are involved in various processes and have a significant impact on breast cancer progression. Understanding the role of RBPs comprehensively can facilitate early diagnosis, timely treatment, and improve the survival and quality of life of breast cancer patients.

MEX3A contributes to development and progression of glioma through regulating cell proliferation and cell migration and targeting CCL2

Chao Yang et al.

Summary: Through studying the role of MEX3A in glioma, this research found that it may promote glioma development by regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, cycle, and migration, with CCL2 being a potential downstream target. These findings reveal a new therapeutic target for treating glioma.

Oncogenic Potential of the Dual-Function Protein MEX3A

Marcell Lederer et al.

Summary: RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) play crucial roles in post-transcriptional control of gene expression and cellular processes, especially in cancer where dysregulation of RBPs, such as the MEX3 family member MEX3A, can impact proliferation, migration, and tumorigenesis. The unique domain structure of MEX3 proteins allows them to modulate both RNA and protein fate, and their oncogenic potential is supported by their impact on tumor cell behaviors and growth.

MEX3A knockdown inhibits the tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer via modulating CDK2 expression

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: The study revealed that MEX3A was upregulated in CRC tissues and its knockdown inhibited cell viability, induced apoptosis and mitochondrial injury. It also led to G(1) phase cell cycle arrest by downregulating CDK2 expression in CRC cells, suggesting MEX3A as a potential novel target for CRC treatment.
