Targeting the APP-Mint2 Protein-Protein Interaction with a Peptide-Based Inhibitor Reduces Amyloid-β Formation

Christian R. O. Bartling et al.

Summary: The study reveals a facilitative role of Mint2 in A beta formation and suggests that targeting Mint2 may be a promising therapeutic strategy to reduce pathogenic A beta levels.

Amyloid β production along the neuronal secretory pathway: Dangerous liaisons in the Golgi?

Lou Fourriere et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that endosomes and the Golgi are major sites for Aβ production. The processing of APP in the Golgi is finely controlled by segregating newly-synthesised APP and the beta-secretase BACE1 through distinct transport pathways. Dysfunction in Golgi morphology and cholesterol metabolism associated with Alzheimer's disease may lead to increased Aβ production.
