The Role of Diet Modification in Atopic Dermatitis: Navigating the Complexity

Andrea M. Rustad et al.

Summary: Diet is intricately associated with atopic dermatitis and food allergy, but many details remain unclear. Various skin reactions to food complicate the diagnosis and understanding of food allergies. Many incorrectly attribute diet as the cause of atopic dermatitis symptoms, leading to unnecessary labeling of food allergies and neglect of traditional treatment methods.

Atopic dermatitis and nutrition

Aziz Khan et al.

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder that can cause sleep disturbances and negatively impact quality of life. The prevalence of atopic dermatitis has been increasing in industrialized nations over the past few decades. Dietary interventions have been studied extensively but have yielded variable results. Exclusive breastfeeding for 3 to 4 months, a diet high in fruits and vegetables, and probiotics may have a beneficial effect on the treatment and prevention of atopic dermatitis.

An update on the prevalence, chronicity, and severity of atopic dermatitis and the associated epidemiological risk factors in the Singapore/Malaysia Chinese young adult population: A detailed description of the Singapore/Malaysia Cross-Sectional Genetics Epidemiology Study (SMCGES) cohort

Jun Jie Lim et al.

Summary: Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a common skin condition influenced by multiple genes and environmental triggers. This study aimed to investigate the epidemiological status of AD among young adults in Singapore and Malaysia, evaluate associated risk factors, and describe the disease presentation and symptoms profile. The results showed that family history, personal history of allergies, and various lifestyle and environmental factors were significantly associated with AD occurrence, chronicity, and severity.

Dietary patterns and predicted 10-year cardiovascular disease risk in a multiethnic Asian population

Yu Qi Lee et al.

Summary: This study identified dietary patterns and their associations with cardiovascular disease risk in the Asian population. The 'ethnic breads, legumes and nuts' and 'whole grains, fruit and dairy' patterns were associated with lower risk, while the 'processed food and sugar-sweetened beverages' pattern was associated with higher risk.

Burden of Moderate to Severe Atopic Dermatitis in Adults from France, Italy, and the UK: Patient-Reported Outcomes and Treatment Patterns

C. Elise Kleyn et al.

Summary: This study investigated the disease burden and treatment patterns for adults with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in France, Italy, and the UK. The results showed that patients with moderate to severe AD experience significant disease burden, but there is underutilization of systemic treatments, highlighting the need for better treatment approaches.

Exploring the Relation between Atopic Diseases and Lifestyle Patterns among Adolescents Living in Greece: Evidence from the Greek Global Asthma Network (GAN) Cross-Sectional Study

George Antonogeorgos et al.

Summary: The study found that high weekly consumption of fruits, vegetables, and pulses was negatively associated with all atopic symptoms, and adherence to a physically active lifestyle was inversely associated with asthma and allergic rhinitis symptoms. Fruits, vegetables, and pulses consumption per week emerged as the most important lifestyle pattern negatively associated for all atopic diseases.
