Genome-Wide Identification of the DOF Gene Family Involved in Fruitlet Abscission in Areca catechu L.

Jia Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of DOF transcription factors in fruitlet abscission regulation in Areca catechu. Through cell architecture observation and transcriptome analysis, the researchers found that DOF genes were up-regulated in the abscission zone and showed AZ-specific expression patterns. The analysis also revealed the presence of hormone response cis-elements and stress-related cis-elements in the promoter regions of DOF genes. These findings suggest that DOF transcription factors play a significant role in the regulation of fruitlet abscission in A. catechu.

The HD-Zip transcription factor SlHB15A regulates abscission by modulating jasmonoyl-isoleucine biosynthesis

Xianfeng Liu et al.

Summary: This study elucidates the antagonistic mechanism between auxin and jasmonic acid during tomato pedicel abscission. It was found that SlHB15A regulates abscission by inhibiting JA-Ile synthesis, while auxin inhibits abscission through the SlHB15A-SlJAR1 module. Additionally, flower removal increases JA-Ile content and impairs the inhibitory effects of auxin on abscission.

LcERF2 modulates cell wall metabolism by directly targeting a UDP-glucose-4-epimerase gene to regulate pedicel development and fruit abscission of litchi

Jun-Wen Yi et al.

Summary: The study revealed that LcERF2 plays a crucial role in mediating premature abscission in fruit crops by orchestrating cell wall metabolism and affecting pedicel growth. This is achieved, at least in part, by repressing the expression of the downstream target gene LcUGE, leading to changes in fruit abscission rates and pedicel characteristics.

Brassinosteroids suppress ethylene-induced fruitlet abscission through LcBZR1/2-mediated transcriptional repression of LcACS1/4 and LcACO2/3 in litchi

Xingshuai Ma et al.

Summary: The study found that brassinosteroids can suppress ethylene-induced fruitlet abscission by regulating the expression of genes related to ethylene biosynthesis. LcBZR1/2 repress the transcription of LcACS1/4 and LcACO2/3 to achieve this regulation.

Iron Deficiency Leads to Chlorosis Through Impacting Chlorophyll Synthesis and Nitrogen Metabolism in Areca catechu L.

Jia Li et al.

Summary: Iron deficiency leads to leaf chlorosis in Areca catechu L. trees, while excessive iron supply results in dark green leaves. Both excessive and deficient iron levels decrease fresh weight and photosynthetic rate in seedlings of A. catechu.

REGULATORY MECHANISMS UNDERLYING ACTIVATION OF ORGAN ABSCISSION

Chao Ma et al.

Summary: Abscission is a tightly regulated developmental process in response to endogenous and environmental cues, with significant effects on crop productivity and quality. Crop domestication often selected against abscission of the fruit for easier harvesting. Understanding the mechanisms underlying abscission will help improve crop breeding and harvesting practices.

SlERF52 regulates SlTIP1;1 expression to accelerate tomato pedicel abscission

Rong Wang et al.

Summary: Abscission of plant organs is controlled by various signals and environmental stimuli, involving multiple regulatory networks like auxin flux and ethylene production. Tonoplast intrinsic proteins play a crucial role in abscission by regulating H2O2 levels and water permeability. These proteins interact with cytoplasmic H2O2 and water influx to modulate the abscission process.
