Relationship between social support and post-discharge mental health symptoms in mothers of preterm infants

Summary: This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and symptoms of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD) reported by mothers of preterm infants in the months following hospital discharge. The results show a strong inverse association between social support and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Social support explains 21% to 26% of the variance in these PMAD symptoms.
