Review: Can digital mental health interventions bridge the 'digital divide' for socioeconomically and digitally marginalised youth? A systematic review

Rowena Piers et al.

Summary: This review investigates the characteristics, acceptability, and efficacy of digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) specifically developed for socioeconomically and digitally marginalized youth. The results suggest that DMHIs can have a moderate but limited effect on improving mental health outcomes among these populations. More high-quality research is needed to determine whether DMHIs can fully bridge the digital divide.

Assessing Diversity and Inclusivity is the Next Frontier in Mental Health Recovery Narrative Research and Practice

Yasuhiro Kotera et al.

Summary: Demand for digital health interventions is increasing globally. The use of recorded mental health recovery narratives is becoming more common in digital health interventions. These narratives provide a first-person account of recovery from mental health problems and can have helpful impacts such as validation of experiences. However, there is a need to ensure diversity and inclusivity in narrative collections to maximize benefits and minimize harm to service users.

Enhancing Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Trials

Amy Corneli et al.

Summary: Women and racial/ethnic groups have been underrepresented in clinical trials in the US, leading to incomplete understanding of new medical products' safety and efficacy, as well as limited generalizability of trial findings. Inequities in outcomes and disparities may persist or worsen. Organizational-level approaches are needed to improve diversity and inclusion in clinical trials, with a focus on commitment, partnerships, accountability, and resources.
