Modifiable risk factors in adults with and without prior cardiovascular disease: findings from the Indonesian National Basic Health Research

Dian Sidik Arsyad et al.

Summary: There is a high prevalence of modifiable risk factors in the Indonesian adult population. Sex, age, and the presence of CVD are major determinants of the variations in risk factors. The presence of multiple risk factors, which are often inter-related, requires a comprehensive approach through health promotion, lifestyle modification, and patient education.

Prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and associated factors among adults from southwest Iran: Baseline data from Hoveyzeh Cohort Study

Nader Saki et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and their risk factors among adults. The results showed that older age, married status, mobile phone usage, low physical activity, smoking, obesity, and abnormal fasting plasma glucose and systolic blood pressure were associated with a higher odds of CVDs.

Agreement between laboratory-based and non-laboratory-based Framingham risk score in Southern Iran

Fatemeh Rezaei et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the agreement between laboratory-based and non-laboratory-based models for measuring Framingham 10-year cardiovascular disease risk in a large population in Southern Iran. The results showed reasonable agreement between the two models, with wider limits of agreement for males over 60 years old. Females demonstrated better agreement between the models compared to males, with moderate agreement for females under 60 years old and fair to slight agreement for males in different age groups. The non-laboratory-based risk model may be a useful alternative in resource-limited settings.
