Summary: Each year, the American Cancer Society compiles data on cancer occurrence and outcomes in the United States. The latest data shows that breast and prostate cancer progress has stagnated, while lung cancer has shown improvements in survival rates. Lung cancer incidence for advanced disease has declined while localized-stage rates have increased, resulting in higher survival rates. Mortality patterns align with incidence trends, with lung cancer deaths declining rapidly, breast cancer deaths slowing, and prostate cancer deaths stabilizing.

Nano-Based Theranostic Platforms for Breast Cancer: A Review of Latest Advancements

Rabia Arshad et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is a highly metastatic disease, and recent advancements in nanomedicine have provided new possibilities for its treatment and diagnosis. Multi-functional nanostructures have emerged as potential carriers for enhanced chemotherapy in breast cancer patients, and selective targeting of breast cancer cells is considered a promising strategy. Furthermore, there is a need to develop highly selective, sensitive, durable, and biocompatible techniques for breast cancer detection.

Summary: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides without protein-coding potential, and have been shown to be associated with human diseases like cancer. They interact with cellular macromolecules such as DNA, protein, and RNA to contribute to various important cancer phenotypes.

Summary: The study found that three H19 polymorphisms were associated with hepatoblastoma susceptibility in a Chinese Han population. Specifically, rs2839698 and rs3024270 polymorphisms increased the risk, while rs217727 polymorphism decreased the risk of hepatoblastoma. Other factors such as age, gender, and clinical stage were also associated with increased susceptibility to hepatoblastoma.

Summary: The study revealed that three polymorphisms in the H19 gene were significantly associated with Wilms tumor risk, indicating that genetic variations in H19 may play a role in Wilms tumor susceptibility. Additionally, stratified analysis showed that certain genotypes could increase the risk of Wilms tumor in children over 18 months, males, and those with early clinical stages of the disease.
