Biomineralization of struvite induced by indigenous marine bacteria of the genus Alteromonas

Wei He et al.

Summary: This study found that bacteria of the genus Alteromonas can induce mineral crystal formation in seawater, and the mechanism mainly lies in their ability to produce ammonia through the ammonification metabolism pathway. This discovery reveals a new ecological role of bacteria belonging to the genus Alteromonas in the ocean.

Description of Nocardioides jiangsuensis sp. nov., and Proposal for Reclassification of the Genus Marmoricola as Nocardioides

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: A new actinobacterium strain WL0053(T), isolated from coastal sediment in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, China, has been identified as a Gram-staining-positive, non-motile, aerobic, spherical bacterium. Its genomic analysis and 16S rRNA gene sequencing demonstrate it to be a new member of the genus Nocardioides, named as Nocardioides jiangsuensis sp. nov. Phylogenetic analysis showed its close relationship with N. iriomotensis and N. mesophilus. Additionally, based on phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, the genus Marmoricola is proposed to be reclassified as Nocardioides.

Aestuariicella albida sp. nov., isolated from surface water of the Yellow Sea, and proposal of the genus Aestuariicella as a member of the family Cellvibrionaceae

Hua- Peng Xue et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel bacterium HHU G3-2(T), belonging to the genus Aestuariicella, was isolated from the surface water of the Yellow Sea in China. Phylogenetic analysis showed that HHU G3-2(T) formed a distinct phylogenetic lineage with Aestuariicella hydrocarbonica JCM 30134(T). The strain exhibited specific physiological characteristics and environmental adaptability.

Actirhodobacter atriluteus gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from the surface water of the Yellow Sea

Hua-Peng Xue et al.

Summary: HHU K3-1( T) is a newly isolated Gram-stain-negative aerobic bacterium that grows optimally at pH 7.0, 28 degrees C, and in the presence of 1-3% NaCl. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence and construction of a phylogenetic tree confirmed its placement within the family Erythrobacteraceae, prompting the proposal for a new genus in the family.
