Lifetime based axial contrast enable simple 3D-STED imaging

Summary: In this study, we introduced a lifetime-based axial contrast in STED microscopy by imaging samples on an ITO coated glass coverslip. This method improves the axial resolution of STED microscopy by enhancing the metal-induced energy transfer effect without requiring any optical modification of the microscope.
