Manipulation of Particle/Cell Based on Compressibility in a Divergent Microchannel by Surface Acoustic Wave

Sen Xue et al.

Summary: This study developed a new method for separating and detecting particles or cells with different compressibility based on surface acoustic waves (SAW) and divergent microchannels. The difference in compressibility caused acoustic radiation force (Fr) are gradually amplified and accumulated by decreasing the flow velocity, and they are finally reflected in the particle migration distance. Through optimizing the acoustic field input power and the fluid velocity, a 91% separation success rate of particles similar to 10 μm can be achieved. The results of this work are expected to provide valuable insights into the acoustofluidics separation and detection of cells with different compressibility.

Identification and characterization of the inhibitory effect of ART on colorectal cancer cells using Raman spectroscopy

Senmao Chai et al.

Summary: In this study, Raman spectroscopy was used in combination with biological experiments to distinguish colorectal cancer cells treated with artesunate. Changes in the Raman spectral intensity and peak area were associated with apoptotic signaling pathways induced by artesunate treatment. This study also highlighted the potential of Raman spectroscopy in cell type identification.

Insights into a deterministic lateral displacement sorting chip with new cross-section micropillars

Xueye Chen et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a microfluidic separation method based on deterministic lateral displacement technology, and designs a new shape of inverted heart-shaped micro-columns for the separation of white blood cells and red blood cells. By simulating particle trajectories and analyzing the impact of flow velocity particle sorting, the separation of the two types of cells is successfully achieved, providing theoretical foundation for rapid disease diagnosis.
