Cannulated compression screw with versus without two K-wire fixation for treatment of scaphoid waist fracture nonunion

Xiaoran Zhang et al.

Summary: This study introduces the use of the tripod technique for treating scaphoid waist fracture nonunion and compares it with the single cannulated screw fixation technique. The results show that there are no significant differences between the tripod fixation group and the single screw fixation group in terms of scaphoid union and surgical outcomes.

Biodegradable magnesium vs. polylactide pins for radial head fracture stabilization: a biomechanical study

Ferdinand C. Wagner et al.

Summary: The study found that fixation of simple radial head fractures with magnesium pins showed superior primary stability and cyclic loading performance compared to those fixed with polylactide pins. Magnesium pins demonstrated higher failure cycles and loads when subjected to cyclic loading. Therefore, magnesium pins may offer better biomechanical properties for treating simple radial head fractures.

Summary: The study demonstrates that screws placed perpendicular to the fracture line and parallel to the long axis of the scaphoid bone have the same stability in fixing oblique scaphoid fractures.
