Computer models evaluating hand tremors in Parkinson's disease patients

Valeria Karina Legaria-Santiago et al.

Summary: One of the key signs of Parkinson's disease is hand tremor, which can be evaluated using the MDS-UPDRS scale. Existing computational models may have limitations in distinguishing between slight Parkinson tremors and voluntary movements. By using biomechanical indicators and fuzzy inference models, the severity of hand tremor in Parkinson's patients can be accurately assessed and differentiated from normal hand movements.

Tremor-Suppression Orthoses for the Upper Limb: Current Developments and Future Challenges

Hoai Son Nguyen et al.

Summary: Pathological tremor is the most common motor disorder in adults, and wearable orthoses with Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and biomechanical loading have been found to be effective in tremor suppression. Active orthoses are the most prevalent, with bench testing showing the highest efficacy. The majority of orthoses use biomechanical sensors for measuring voluntary and/or tremorous motions.

Discretization Accuracy of Continuous Signal Peak Values in Limited Bandwidth Systems

Luis Pastor Sanchez Fernandez

Summary: Peak values of signals in real processes and physical simulations are crucial, especially when impacted by small-scale measurements in laboratories. Sampling rate significantly contributes to measurement accuracy, yet errors due to sampling frequency are often not quantified, leading to incomplete measurement specifications. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis on the relation between sampling frequency and measurement error for sinusoidal signals, with specific examples for signals composed of harmonics.
