Electrochemical determination of trace amounts of lead ions using D-penicillamine-functionalized graphene quantum dot-modified glassy carbon electrode

Summary: In this study, a new catalyst, GQD-DPA, was successfully prepared by covalent functionalization of graphene quantum dot with D-penicillamine. The modified electrode, GQD-DPA/GCE, exhibited improved sensitivity and selectivity for Pb2+ determination, showing linear behavior in the concentration range of 0.03 to 2.8 nM with a calculated detection limit of 0.01 nM. The sensor demonstrated interference-free behavior and was used for accurate determination of Pb2+ ions in tap water and river water samples.
