Comedonic lupus, a rare variant of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CCLE): case series and literature review

Camila S. C. da Silveira et al.

Summary: This article presents five cases of patients diagnosed with comedonic lupus and reviews 18 previously published cases. The clinical presentation is characterized by comedonal lesions mainly on the face, highlighting the importance of differential diagnosis with other benign conditions for diagnostic confirmation. The therapeutic possibilities for comedonic lupus are still poorly defined due to limited literature.

Comedogenic lupus: a rare variant of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus - case series

Lucas Campos Garcia et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical and histopathological characteristics of patients with comedogenic lupus in a tertiary dermatology service from 2006 to 2021. Five female patients with a mean age of 56.6 years were diagnosed. Most lesions occurred on the face, especially in the pre-auricular, malar, and chin regions. Acneiform conditions like comedogenic lupus have poor response to conventional treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment can reduce the risk of unaesthetic scars.
