Unprecedented change in the position of four radio sources

Summary: The astrometric positions of radio-emitting AGNs can be accurately determined using VLBI, with sub-milliarcsec precision. Long-term monitoring reveals extreme positional shifts in some AGNs. New VLBI observations from 2018-2021 show that four extragalactic radio sources have experienced dramatic shifts in their positions over two decades, ranging from 20 to 130 milliarcseconds, which are caused by changes in their radio structures.
