Impact of a mobile decision support tool on antimicrobial stewardship indicators in St. John's, Canada

Daniel Doyle et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of regional implementation of the Spectrum(TM) app on inpatient antimicrobial appropriateness, usage, Clostridioides difficile infection rates, and cost savings. Results showed improvements in antimicrobial stewardship indicators with decreased inpatient antimicrobial usage and CDI incidence, leading to cost savings associated with reduced AMU and CDI. The specific cause of these improvements could not be determined.
