Interactive effects of dietary phosphorus and microbial phytase on growth performance, intestinal morphometry, and welfare of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fed on low-fishmeal diets

Ibrahim Adeshina et al.

Summary: Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. This study assessed the effects of replacing inorganic phosphorus with hybrid microbial phytase in Nile tilapia diets. The results showed that feeding diets containing phytase and/or inorganic phosphorus significantly improved growth and feed intake of the fish, while also positively impacting their welfare.

A comparison of the effect of organic acids and dicalcium phosphate supplementation on phosphorus bioavailability, growth performance and digestive enzyme activities ofLabeo rohitafingerlings

Iqra Javid et al.

Summary: This study examined the effects of organic acids and dicalcium phosphate supplementation on growth and nutrient absorption in Labeo rohita fingerlings. It was found that supplementation of organic acid blend significantly improved growth and minerals absorption, while also increasing crude fat and protein content in the diet. However, dicalcium phosphate supplementation had a more pronounced effect on increasing crude ash content.

Carbonate alkalinity and dietary protein levels affected growth performance, intestinal immune responses and intestinal microflora in Songpu mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio Songpu)

Ze Fan et al.

Summary: The experiment investigated the interaction between carbonate alkalinity levels and dietary protein levels on the growth, digestive ability, intestinal immunity, physical barrier function, and microflora of Songpu mirror carp. Results showed that higher carbonate alkalinity levels led to reduced weight gain rate and increased feed conversion ratio, while higher dietary protein levels also had negative effects. The study suggests that maintaining dietary protein levels below 310 g/kg under carbonate alkalinity stress of 15 mmol/L can effectively enhance the growth and intestinal immune response of fish.

Microcystin-LR induces ferroptosis in intestine of common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Yuanyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Previous studies have shown that MC-LR enters intestinal tissues through organic anion-transporting polypeptides, resulting in ferroptosis-related damage including ER stress, iron accumulation, and changes in glutathione levels. The GSH/GPx 4 pathway plays a significant role in response to MC-LR exposure.

Influence of diet shift from bloodworm to formulated feed on growth performance, gut microbiota structure and function in early juvenile stages of hybrid sturgeon (Acipenser baerii x Acipenser schrenckii)

Qiang Hao et al.

Summary: The study found that compared to bloodworm, formulated feed improved the weight gain rate and feed conversion ratio of sturgeon, but led to dysbiosis in the intestinal microbiota, negatively impacting the immune response of GF zebrafish and reducing their resistance to pathogenic bacteria.
