Detection of residual feed in aquaculture using YOLO and Mask RCNN

Haigang Hu et al.

Summary: This study proposed a dual-strategy residual feed detection algorithm based on improved You Only Look Once (YOLO) v3 and Mask Region-Based Convolutional Networks (RCNN) for detecting residual feed in aquaculture areas. The improved YOLO v3 network structure better extracted the boundary box of swimming crabs and recognized tiny targets. By using the customized Mask RCNN, false negatives in the inference process were reduced and the network was sped up. The dual-strategy algorithm accurately identified residual feed and effectively reduced feed waste.

Effects of image data quality on a convolutional neural network trained in-tank fish detection model for recirculating aquaculture systems

Rakesh Ranjan et al.

Summary: Artificial intelligence can assist in fish production and management decisions in recirculating aquaculture systems. However, the accuracy of machine learning models in this context is dependent on the quality of input images, which face challenges due to underwater conditions. This study explores the effect of various factors on model accuracy for fish detection under RAS production conditions.

Robust detection of farmed fish by fusing YOLOv5 with DCM and ATM

Haiqing Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a robust detection model called DCM-ATM-YOLOv5 for accurate object detection of farmed fish. The model integrates the deformable convolution module (DCM) and adaptive threshold module (ATM) into YOLOv5 to address the challenges of blurring, occlusion, and varying density in underwater fish images. Experimental results demonstrate that DCM-ATM-YOLOv5 achieves high precision and strong robustness.

A MobileNetV2-SENet-based method for identifying fish school feeding behavior

Lu Zhang et al.

Summary: A method based on MobileNetV2-SENet is proposed to identify fish school feeding behavior. By preprocessing the fish school images and using MobileNetV2 for feature extraction, the feeding behavior is identified using a feature weighting network based on SENet. The proposed method achieves an accuracy of 97.76% on real fish school images.

Reliable image processing algorithm for sunburn management in green apples

Basavaraj R. Amogi et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a real-time crop stress monitoring system to tackle weather uncertainties and heat stress on apple fruits. They have studied an in-field sensing system that uses localized weather and thermal-RGB imagery to monitor fruit surface temperature (FST). The aim of the study was to develop a color independent fruit segmentation algorithm for successful FST monitoring.
