Ce doping promote the selective conversion of ethanol to ethyl acetate via the dehydrogenation-condensation over CuCeZr catalyst

Yuda Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, an efficient CuCeZr solid solution catalyst is developed for the selective synthesis of ethyl acetate from ethanol. The CuCeZr catalyst with 10 wt% Ce doping exhibits the highest selectivity (87.5%) and 55.9% ethanol conversion, surpassing other reported CuZr-based catalysts. A 1000 h continuous life-test demonstrates the excellent stability of the CuCeZr catalyst. The Ce doping enhances the formation of Cu (I) species, improving the selectivity of ethyl acetate.

Pyrochlore cerium stannate (Ce2Sn2O7) for highly sensitive NO2 gas sensing at room temperature

Mathankumar Ganesan et al.

Summary: Gas sensing at low temperatures is a challenging task. Pyrochlore-based oxides, particularly the pyrochlore-Ce2Sn2O7 structure prepared through a hydrothermal method, have shown outstanding selectivity, response time, recovery time, repeatability, and stability for NO2 gas molecules. This excellent gas-sensing performance can be attributed to the high specific surface area, presence of oxygen vacancies, and surface-adsorbed oxygen molecules.

Humidity-enhanced NH3 sensor based on carbon quantum dots-modified SnS

Yuxiang Qin et al.

Summary: SnS/CQDs nanocomposite with a unique heterogeneous structure was prepared by modifying SnS with carbon quantum dots (CQDs) containing hydroxyl and carboxyl groups. The hydrothermally prepared SnS/CQDs sensor showed a much higher response to NH3 at ppb level and a 4.78-fold higher response to 10 ppm NH3 compared to pure SnS. Moreover, it exhibited a humidity-enhanced effect with a 1.44 times higher response to 2.5 ppm NH3 at 97% RH. The study provides a feasible approach to explore the application potential of SnS-based nanocomposites in high humidity environments.

Ethanol dehydrogenation to acetaldehyde over a Cu & delta; plus -based Cu-MFI catalyst

Xianquan Li et al.

Summary: Cu-MFI catalysts were prepared and used for the dehydrogenation of ethanol. Highly dispersed Cus' species on the MFI support were identified as the essential active sites for this reaction. These species were stable and acted as a Lewis acid catalyst for promoting ethanol activation and dehydrogenation. The optimal catalyst achieved a selectivity of 95% for acetaldehyde and an ethanol conversion rate of approximately 87% at 250°C and a weight hourly space velocity of 0.64 h-1.
